Karnataka Assembly Election 2023: The high-stake elections of the southern state of Karnataka are all set to take place next month. Karnataka is all set to witness the elections to its 224-member Legislative assembly on May 10, 2023, while the results will be announced on May 13, 2023.

Shravanabelagola is one of the 8 assembly segments of the Hassan parliament seat. The general category assembly seat is situated in Hassan district. The historic city is one of the major Jain religious centres of the state.

Shravanabelagola Assembly Elections 2023

This year, the key candidates standing against each other for the Shravanabelagola constituency include Chidananda from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), M.A.Gopalaswamy from Indian National Congress (INC) and Balakrishna C.N from Janata Dal (JDS).

According to the 2019 Parliament census, the total number of voters in the Shravanabelagola constituency stood at 2,01,450. Among the total number of voters, the Scheduled Castes constituted around 11.63% as per the 2011 Census, the Scheduled Tribes make up around 1,894 which is around 0.94%. Meanwhile, the rural voters constitute around 1,61,684 which is around 80.26% and urban voters make up approximately 39,766 which is around 19.74%. The total number of polling booths in this constituency as of the 2019 Parliament elections is 271.

Shravanabelagola Assembly Elections 2018

CN Balakrishna from Janata Dal (JDS) emerged as the winner of the assembly election by a margin of 1,05,516 votes, while C S Puttegowda from Indian National Congress (INC) was the runner-up and secured 52,504 votes. On the other hand, Shivananjegowda from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got 7,506 votes in the 2018 assembly elections of the Shravanabelagola constituency.
