The development comes hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an election rally in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal, where he hit out at the Congress, saying if the grand old party comes to power, the state will again become a 'bimaru' state.

Earlier on August 17, the BJP released the first list of 39 candidates including five women for the upcoming assembly elections. In the first list, BJP included SC Morcha national president, Lal Singh Arya who will contest from Gohad in Bhind district, and its national secretary, Omprakash Dhurwey, will contest the poll from Dindori's Shahpura assembly constituency.

The Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram are likely to be held in November-December this year. The BJP is in power in Madhya Pradesh while the Congress is ruling in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. Telangana is ruled by the BRS, while Mizoram is ruled by the Mizo National Front (MNF).
