Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election 2023: The elections to the 230 Assembly constituencies in the state of Madhya Pradesh will be held around the bracket of November-December 2023. The exact dates of this term is yet to be announced by the Election Commission of India, with the respective parties gearing up for the big day soon.
Looking at the Jhabua constituency, it is one of 230 Assembly constituencies located in the state of Madhya Pradesh and comes under the Ratlam Lok Sabha/ Parliamentary constituency. Jhabua mainly falls under the Jhabua district which is also known as the Malwa Tribal region of Madhya Pradesh. Jhabua is categorised as a rural seat.
According to the 2018 Madhya Pradesh election record, there are a total of 2,70,283 voters in the seat, amongst which 1,36,046 are male voters and 1,34,231 are female voters. The district recorded a voter turnout of 64.55 percent, whereas in 2013 the turnout was 56.55 percent and in 2008 it was around 54.26 percent.

Jhabua Elections 2018 and 2013
Talking about the elections of 2013, Shantilal Bilwal of BJP won the seat by a strong margin of 15,858 votes i.e. 11.71 percent. He scored 41.79 percent of the total votes polled in the region, in that year. However, earlier in 2008, Indian National Congress won this seat with a margin of 18,751 votes i.e. 20.13 percent which registered around 51.99 percent of the total votes polled in.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Indian National Congress led in the Jhabua Assembly segment of the Ratlam Lok Sabha constituency. In 2018, Gumansingh Damor won the seat and scored 66,598 votes with 38 percent weight, having a margin of 10,437.
Jhabua soon saw a bypoll election turnout which changed the dynamics in the region, as the Indian National Congress recovered the seat with Kantilal Bhuria’s big win. He collected 96,155 votes i.e. 55.79 percent, and had a big margin of 27,804.
