Rajasthan Assembly Election 2023: Rajasthan is set to go to the polls to elect representatives for its 200-seat Legislative Assembly. Polling for the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly election will be held in a single phase on November 25. The counting of votes will commence on December 3 and official results are expected to be declared by December 5, as per the Election Commission.

Khajuwala Assembly Election 2023:

Khajuwala Assembly seat is one among the 200 assembly segments in Rajasthan. The Khajuwala Assembly constituency is reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates and is currently represented by Govind Ram Meghwal of Congress. Khajuwala falls under the Bikaner district of Rajasthan.

Khajuwala Assembly Election 2018:

In the 2018 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly election, Congress candidate Govind Ram Meghwal defeated the then-incumbent BJP MLA of Khajuwala, Dr Vishwanath, in the first-past-the-post race with an impressive margin of 31,089 votes. The difference in the duo's tally translated to 20.55% of the 1,51,305 valid votes polled.

Meghwal got 82,994 votes, while only 51,905 votes were polled in Dr Vishwanath's favour. The Khajuwala Assembly constituency recorded a below-average voter turnout of 73.74% in 2018 against the statewide average of 74.72%. The polling day saw 1,52,769 people cast their votes in Khajuwala. Out of all the eligible voters who participated in polling, 96,827 were women, while 1,11,252 were men.

In 2013, Khajuwala's electorate chose Dr Vishwanath as their MLA. He was contesting on BJP ticket and won the MLA race against Meghwal by getting 33% of the valid votes polled. Meghwal, the Congress party's candidate, emerged the runner-up that year by getting 53,476 votes as against Dr Vishwanath's 61,833 votes.
