The movie is based on the courageous life of an Indian flight purser named Neerja Bhanot, who sacrificed her life while protecting the lives of 359 passengers on Pan Am Flight 73 (the plane which was hijacked) in 1986. The movie stars Sonam Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Yogendra Tiku, Jim Sarbh, Shekhar Ravjiani and Kavi Shastri in key roles. The 2016 film is streaming on Disney + Hotstar. 


Chhapaak (Disney + Hotstar)

The movie is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The movie shows her journey from the acid attack incident to healing and the court proceedings. The film features Vikrant Massey, Deepika Padukone, Sakshi Benipuri, Ipshita Chakraborty Singh, Vaibhavi Upadhyay and Bhasha Sumbli in key roles. The 2020 film is streaming on Disney + Hotstar.


Sarbjit (YouTube)

The movie is based on the life of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian man who was accused of terrorism and spying in Pakistani. He spent 22 years in the prison of the neighbouring country and was sentenced to death by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1991. The film features Randeep Hooda, Aishwarya Rai, Richa Chadha, Darshan Kumar, Ankur Bhatia and Ankita Shrivastav in key roles. The 2016 film can be watched on YouTube on rent/purchase options. 

No One Killed Jessica (Netflix)

The movie is on the Jessica Lal murder case, which shows the killing of a bartender, who was shot by a politician's son because she refused to serve drinks to him after the bar closing time. Her sister then fights for justice for her. The movie stars Rani Mukerji, Myra Karn, Vidya Balan, Rajkumar Gupta, Bubbles Sabharwal and Satyadeep Mishra in key roles. The 2011 movie is streaming on Netflix. 

Shahid (Prime Video)

The movie is based on the life of lawyer and human rights activist Shahid Azmi. He was assassinated in 2010. The movie stars Rajkummar Rao, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Prabhleen Sandhu and Kay Kay Menon in key roles. The 2012 movie is available for rent on Prime Video.


Sector 36 (Netflix)

The movie is based on the 2006 Noida serial murders in Nithari Village. A man working at a rich businessman’s house kills children and eats some of the meat. While his boss does organ trafficking and later the remaining parts are thrown in the drain. The movie stars Vikrant Massey, Deepak Dobriyal, Tanushree Das, Ipshita Chakraborty Singh and Akash Khurana in pivotal roles. The 2024 film is streaming on Netflix. 


The Attacks of 26/11 (JioCinema)

The movie is based on the book Kasab: The Face of 26/11 by Rommel Rodrigues. The film showcases the darkest nights of the 2008 Mumbai attacks. The movie stars Nana Patekar, Atul Kulkarni, Sanjeev Jaiswal, Rahaao and Sadh Orhan in key roles. The 2013 movie can be watched on JioCinema.
