Anu Aggarwal, who rose to stardom with her debut in the 1990 blockbuster Aashiqui, recently opened up about long-standing rumours regarding her relationship with filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. The romantic drama, directed by Bhatt, became a massive success, and Anu's performance as an innocent young woman captured the hearts of audiences nationwide. The film's success was largely attributed to its unforgettable music and Anu's compelling portrayal opposite Rahul Roy.

However, along with fame came speculation. At just 22 years old, Anu found herself at the centre of rumours linking her romantically to Mahesh Bhatt, who had already been married twice by that time. Despite the whispers, Anu chose to stay silent, focusing on her career and personal growth.

In a recent interview, Anu addressed these rumours for the first time in 34 years. She explained that she was living alone in Mumbai, away from her parents, during the time she was working on Aashiqui. Transitioning from modelling to acting, Anu quickly gained a reputation for her ability to deliver scenes in a single take, earning the nickname 'one-take artist' from Bhatt himself. This talent, however, wasn't well-received by everyone, and Anu believes it may have fueled jealousy among her peers, leading to the spread of false rumours about her and the director.

After the success of Aashiqui, Anu went on to appear in The Cloud Door, an Indo-German short film directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Mani Kaul. The film, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, included a controversial topless scene that wasn't part of the original script.

Initially, Anu refused to do the scene, but after the film was selected for Cannes, the director reached out to her, explaining that the bold scene was still necessary for the film's success at the festival. Despite her initial hesitation, Anu eventually agreed to film the scene.
