Biopics have become the new trend in the cinematic world with powerful performances, meaningful plots, and a connection to real life which usually strikes a chord with the audience. There are several biopics in Bollywood which were super hit at the box office including 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', 'MS Dhoni', and 'Dangal.'
Sports biopics have majorly taken over Bollywood but we have seen very less scientist-based biopics in the Hindi Film Industry. Now, as fans gear up for the release of 'Oppenheimer' by Christopher Nolan, let's take a look at some of the popular and surprising Indian-origin scientists whose lives stand to be the perfect plot and inspiration for biopics.
Meghnad Saha:
He was an eminent Indian astrophysicist who gave the world the theory of ionization which explained the origin of stellar spectra, his work authenticity and professionalism with the creation of complicated miracles will make one's mind boggle.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam:
Known as the 'Missile Man' of India, Abdul Kalam came from a poor Tamil family and fought against all economic odds, and rose to be the President of India. Honored with Bharat Ratna, he keenly made tremendous efforts to build the path of missile development and powered the 'Smiling Buddha' which stood to be the first nuclear test to be conducted in India.
Dr. CV Raman:
Nobel prize-winner Physicist Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman kicked a high-paying civil service job after a struggling run of 10 years and invested his whole savings believing in the findings of Science. His spectroscopy, which relies on 'fingerprints' across all laboratories globally, mainly identifies molecules and analyzes living cells and tissues to detect life-threatening diseases including cancer.
Satyendra Nath Bose:
Mathematician and physicist Satyendra Nath Bose is known for his work with Albert Einstein and is popular for his theory of electromagnetic radiation. His research paper was initially rejected by a Physics Journal, after which he sent the details directly to Albert Einstein, who found the details valuable and offered him work.
Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose:
The man excelled in the study of microwave and radio optics and was the first man to detect radio waves by using semiconductor junctions and established the concept of wireless communication. He also created the crescograph which is used to study plant responses to test that plants also perceive and understand emotions of grief and love at times.
