Akshay Kumar, who is gearing up for his upcoming movie Sky Force, recently opened up about the recent box office failures of films. The superstar talked about the challenges that have been faced by Indian films because of the declining success ratio of theatrical releases. He claimed that the rise of OTT is the key reason for the box office failures. Kumar further mentioned that since COVID-19, people have made a habit of using OTT more than ever.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Akshay said “I meet a lot of people, and they often say that we will watch it on OTT, so that is the biggest reason. That is what the whole thing is.” He also added, “Let’s not beat around the bush. Things have changed after that… after Covid, people got used to going on OTT platforms and watching things. It’s a habit that has been taken.”
Earlier in an interview, Akshay shared a similar statement, “The pandemic has undoubtedly changed the dynamics of the film industry. With audiences being more selective about their cinema outings, it has become crucial to choose projects that offer something completely entertaining and unique.”
