Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of his highly-anticipated movie Kesari 2. The film is based on the real-life Jallianwala Bagh massacre where over 1,600 people were killed. Recently, Akshay Kumar, along with the film producer Karan Joher, held a press conference where the former talked about the emotional depth of the story and his personal connection with the deadly massacre.
Akshay Kumar wants King Charles to watch Kesari 2
According to a report in News18, Akshay Kumar stated, “My grandfather witnessed the Jallianwala Bagh massacre firsthand. He passed those stories to my father, and in turn, I heard them growing up. This film is more than just a role for me—it’s a tribute to a legacy I’ve known since childhood.”
“The moment I heard it, I knew I had to be part of this film. History often hides what truly matters, and this film uncovers one such powerful moment,” he further added.
The actor said, “I want King Charles and the British government to watch Kesari 2 and understand the gravity of what happened. An apology will naturally follow—this film could be the spark.”
As the CBFC granted the movie an A certificate, Akshay Kumar said, “I trust they found it appropriate. There must be something they considered necessary." To this, Karan Johar added, “We respect their decision and accept the certification. Fortunately, there were no cuts requested."
