Allu Arjun recently opened up about winning the Best Actor National Award for the first instalment of Pushpa. While promoting Pushpa 2: The Rule, the South superstar claimed that till now no Telugu actor has won the National award. He also mentioned that he feels sad that no Telugu star has won the prestigious award, so he decided to make it happen by doing this film. Arjun also talked about working with Sukumar. He also stated that he earlier worked with the Pushpa director in his second 2002 film Arya.

Allu Arjun said, “It is my absolute honour, and I can tell everyone this. While working on Pushpa: The Rise, I requested my director Sukumar to make Pushpa win me the Best Actor award. I had won it before, but I wanted to raise the bar and go for a National Award.”

He continued, “It’s very special because no Telugu actor had ever won a National Award until now. I was the first, and that makes it even more meaningful.”

“My journey of 20 years started with my director Sukumar Garu. He is not just the director of Pushpa 2, he is the director of my second film Arya. I think Pushpa is my 20th or the 21st film. And we made many films together. There is no way I will be standing on this stage without his support, and it is him who has made me a star, undoubtedly. It hurt me to see no Telugu actor had won a National Award before. That’s when I decided I would make it happen,” she added.

Pushpa 2: The Rule is set to be released in theatres on December 5. The anticipated movie also stars Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, Sritej, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Priyamani, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Divi Vadthya, Jagapathi Babu and Ajay Ghosh in key roles.
