Bollywood renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is known for his honest opinion about politics, Industry people and Cinema. The Gangs Of Wasseypur director recently called Bollywood people toxic and said that Sandeep Reddy Vanga is one of the honest men he knows. He also shared his fondness about talking to the Animal director. Anurag also asserted that he loves honest people despite people having issues with them in the industry.
In an interview with Zoom, Anurag said “I like the guy (Sandeep). I have no problem with him. Unlike a lot of people in the industry who pretend to be someone they are not, he is honest. The former kind, I think, is even more toxic. But Vanga is an honest man. I don’t like anything more than honesty, no matter what others’ issues with honesty are. I love talking to him.”
Earlier, in a chat with his daughter Aaliyah Kashyap for her podcast - Young, Dumb & Anxious, Anurag stated “I met him (Sandeep) and I liked him. I like the guy. I’ve had questions of my own and I wanted to talk to him about his film (Animal) and I invited him and I had a long five-hour conversation and I like the guy... I always believe in talking to people. I was cancelled after Dev D (2009) by a lot of people for making a 'misogynistic' film... I have often seen people isolating someone, attacking someone and that is not the way to be.”
In January this year, Anurag posted a couple of pictures with Sandeep Reddy Vanga on an Instagram post and appreciated him and his honesty. He wrote, “Had a great evening with @sandeepreddy.vanga . The most misunderstood, judged and reviled Filmaker at the moment . To me he is the most honest , vulnerable and a lovely person. I wanted to meet the man and I had questions and he answered every thing I asked of him about his film that I actually saw twice . Thank you for being patient and being yourself m. This is a person you can actually confront and talk to . Pls talk to him about the problems you have with the film . 40’days since i first saw ANIMAL and 22 days since I saw it the second time . The biggest game changer of Hindi cinema in the longest time and a film whose impact (good or bad) which can’t be denied . And the filmmaker who takes it all on his chin . Great evening spent with him.”
