Badshah Tateeree Song Controversy: The Haryana State Commission for Women has taken a firm stand against popular rapper Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh. Following his failure to appear before the commission by a set deadline, the body has requested his immediate arrest and the seizure of his passport to prevent him from leaving the country. The legal trouble stems from Badshah’s recently released Haryanvi music video, Tateeree.
Why Is Badshah In Legal Trouble?
Badshah's Tateeree song and its visuals have sparked massive outrage among social organisations and activists. Critics allege that the video insults the daughters of Haryana through inappropriate language and derogatory lyrics. Specific complaints highlight visuals showing minor girls in school uniforms throwing away their bags and dancing inappropriately on a Haryana Roadways bus. The police stated, “The use of words such as Badshala in the song has also been found to depict the school environment and education in a misleading and inappropriate manner.”
Badshah picturised a song called “Tateeree” in which girls are portrayed as school-going students.

The Commission’s Chairperson, Renu Bhatia, had summoned the rapper to appear in Panipat by 3 PM on Friday. Although three lawyers representing Badshah arrived at the hearing, the rapper himself was absent. His legal team requested a 15-day extension and suggested a video conference due to security concerns, but both requests were denied. Chairperson Bhatia told the press, “I have ordered SP Panipat to get Badshah arrested from anywhere, any place and issue search orders.” She has also written to the National Commission for Women (NCW) seeking a nationwide ban on his shows and songs.

Meanwhile, according to reports, in his defence, one of Badshah’s lawyers, Akshay Dahiya, claimed that they never received the official summons and alleged that the issue was being politicised. He stated, “Under the law, everyone has the right to present their side. But here that is not being given.”

On the other hand, Badshah has already uploaded an apology video to his Instagram, expressing regret for any hurt feelings and confirming that the song has been removed from all platforms. However, the authorities remain unmoved. Several police teams have been formed to conduct raids, and a look-out circular is being processed to ensure the rapper remains in India to face the charges.
