This blockbuster film based on a sperm donor who gets involved with a fertility clinic delivers a meaningful message with perfect comic timing. The film also stars Yami Gautam and Anu Kapoor in lead roles and is available on Amazon Prime Video.
Dum Laga Ke Haisha: 2015
The Sharat Katariya directorial is another successful film of the actor in which he essays the role of a reluctant husband of an overweight wife, essayed by Bhumi Pednekar. The plot revolves around a couple who come to terms with their emotions under societal pressure and understand the true meaning of beauty, strength, and love for each other. The film also stars Bhumi Pednekar in the lead role and marked her Bollywood debut. It is available on Amazon Prime.
Shubh Mangal Savdhan: 2017
Available on Jio Cinema, the film is directed by R.S. Prasanna and revolves around a topic which is not often spoken about in public, but is also a topic of mocking one. It centers around an individual dealing with erectile dysfunction, which puts his marriage in jeopardy when both families become entangled in this issue. This creates a chaotic situation with tons of ups and downs, but sees a happy ending, emphasizing the serious condition which affects a man’s mental health.
Badhaai Ho: 2018
The 2018 blockbuster film of Amit Sharma deals with the issues of a family of four, with welcoming another fifth member at the age of 60. Ayushmann Khurrana’s character deals with the issue of his mother's unexpected pregnancy which adds on the issues of personal embarrassment, societal norms, and acceptance. The acting skills of Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta, and Ayushmann Khurrana were keenly praised and applauded. The film is available on Disney Plus Hotstar.
Andhadhun: 2018
Sriram Raghavan’s hit film ‘Andhadhun’ is available on Netflix and stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu, and Radhika Apte in lead roles. The film focuses on a piano player pretending to be visually impaired and becomes entangled in a series of issues where he also witnesses a murder. A former film actor, the story’s ending remains to be a mystery for the public in order to come to a conclusion to understand whether or not he is really blind or all was just a mind boggling act.
