Baby John vs Pushpa 2 Box Office Collection: Varun Dhawan's Baby John, which opened in theatres on December 25, continues to face challenges at the box office. Despite a decent opening, the film's collections have been on a steady decline. In stark contrast, Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna's Pushpa 2: The Rule remains a juggernaut, even in its fourth week of release.
Baby John, an official adaptation of Thalapathy Vijay's Theri, started its run with Rs 11.25 crores on its opening day, as per Sacnilk. However, the numbers dipped sharply, earning Rs 4.75 crores on Day 2 (Thursday) and further dropping to Rs 3.65 crores on Day 3 (Friday). This brings the total domestic collection to Rs 19.65 crores in three days.
The action drama, directed by Kalees and featuring an ensemble cast including Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff and Rajpal Yadav, was backed by renowned producers Atlee, Priya Atlee, Murad Khetani and Jyoti Deshpande. Despite the high-profile names and buzz, the film has failed to meet expectations.
Meanwhile, Pushpa 2: The Rule continues to dominate the box office, even in its fourth week. According to Sacnilk, the film recorded its lowest single-day earnings on its fourth Friday, with Rs 8.75 crores across all languages. However, this minor dip hasn’t hindered its remarkable overall performance.
The sequel to Pushpa: The Rise has crossed a staggering Rs 1,128 crores globally, with Rs 731.15 crores coming from its Hindi version alone. The Telugu version contributed Rs 320.13 crores, while the Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam dubbed versions collectively added Rs 77.48 crores.
Baby John is expected to see some improvement over the weekend, with estimates suggesting a weekend total of Rs 25-30 crores. However, this figure still falls short of the expectations set for a film with such a star-studded cast.
On the other hand, Pushpa 2 continues to break records, setting a benchmark as the first Hindi film to achieve a net collection of Rs 100 crores in its third week. With its gross total exceeding Rs 1,700 crores, the film has cemented its place as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2024.
