Badshah’s recent show in Vadodara took an unexpected turn when the rapper voiced his support for comedian Samay Raina. However, his shoutout—“Free Samay Raina”—during the concert left many confused, sparking reactions online.
Samay Raina and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia have been at the center of controversy due to a remark made on India’s Got Latent, which many found inappropriate. While several celebrities criticized them, others have shown support. Badshah, who previously appeared on Samay’s show and collaborated with him on the song Baawe, chose to back the comedian publicly.
During his concert at Parul University in Vadodara, Gujarat, Badshah took a moment to acknowledge Samay, shouting, “Free Samay Raina.” The crowd erupted in cheers, but the statement quickly became a talking point on social media.
A video of Badshah’s shoutout surfaced on Reddit, where users were quick to troll the rapper. Many pointed out that Samay Raina wasn’t actually arrested.

One user wrote, “You could have just said ‘I stand with Samay Raina,’ but no worries, maybe next time.” Another commented, “Free Samay Raina? When was he arrested?” Others called the statement exaggerated, with one saying, “Overdid it, but okay. Second-hand embarrassment. Samay isn’t in jail; he’s in the US playing chess.”
Ranveer Allahbadia’s remarks on India’s Got Latent led to widespread criticism and multiple FIRs being filed against him, Samay, Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and the show’s organizers. The backlash forced Samay to delete all episodes of the show from YouTube.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Samay expressed his distress over the situation:
"Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you."
