Ranveer Allahbadia, who recently appeared as one of the panelists in Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent, asked a question on ‘parent sex’ to a contestant. The remark was highly criticised on social media and legal actions have been taken against him along with others including Samay Raina and Apoorva Mukhija. But this was not the first time this question was asked as a joke to someone. In an old video that has been circulating on social media showcased stand-up comedian Kanan Gill asked Jackky Bhagnani and Lauren Gottlieb exactly asking the same question. In the viral clip, Kanan questioned the stars, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your lives or join in once and stop it?”

Both Jackky and Lauren were visibly shocked and embarrassed by the question. As the user, who shared the video on Instagram, the clip is from 2015. The comment section was flooded with opinions of netizens. A user said, “Well 2015 us were more chill than 2025 us.” Another user wrote, “This was a planned attack on samay by the otts and power grabbers because of his influence.” A comment read, “Now i want to know, who's the real og creator of this question !!!” Another comment read, “Allabadia promotes spirituality Hinduism ram and god knows what what in the name of podcast. So ofcourse this outburst should be expected whereas we don’t expect that from kanan gill neither does he promote it.”

On the other hand, after the outrage on social media, Ranveer shared an apology video. He said, “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate. It wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I’m gonna use my platform, and obviously, this is not how I’m gonna use it. I am not going to give any context or justification or reasoning for whatever happened, I am just here to offer an apology.”

“I’m just here for an apology. I personally had a lapse in judgment. It wasn’t cool on my part. The podcast is watched by people of all ages. I don’t want to be the kind of person that takes that responsibility lightly, and family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect,” he added.
