Priyadarshan’s upcoming film Bhooth Bangla, featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, has been assigned a new release date. Initially scheduled to arrive in theatres on May 15, 2026, the makers have now decided to prepone the film’s release. This change in schedule is being viewed as a well-thought-out and strategic move, aimed at maximising audience engagement while also taking into account Akshay Kumar’s already packed theatrical lineup for the year.
Bhooth Bangla New Release Date
The horror-comedy movie is now set to hit the big screens on April 10, 2026. Akshay Kumar announced the same on his Instagram handle and wrote, "Bhooth Bangla ka countdown rewind! 15 May ❌10 April ✅Milte hain theatres mein."
Bhooth Bangla is one of the highly-anticipated movies of the year. What adds to Bhooth Bangla’s appeal as a complete entertainer is its power-packed ensemble cast. The film brings together some of the most loved and respected names in the industry, including Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Asrani, and Wamiqa Gabbi. With such a diverse mix of talent, the film promises a perfect balance of humour, performance and screen presence.
Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in association with Cape of Good Films present Bhooth Bangla starring Akshay Kumar, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Tabu and Rajpal Yadav. The movie has been directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor.
Principal photography for the film began in December 2024 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, before the production shifted to Jaipur, Rajasthan, in January 2025 for the next shooting schedule, with key portions filmed at Chomu Palace — a location previously used by Priyadarshan for Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007). The film’s production design was helmed by art director Sabu Cyril, and in April 2025, the makers shot the climax sequences in Hyderabad, where an elaborate palace set was constructed at Ramoji Film City.
