Actor Arjun Kapoor and Salman Khan's relationship has been strained for some time. Initially, the duo shared a strong bond during Kapoor's early days in the film industry. However, their relationship reportedly soured over time. Now, Boney Kapoor shed light on the fallout and clarified that this rift hasn't impacted his rapport with Salman. Discussing Arjun's acting journey while gearing up for the release of Maidaan, the filmmaker broke silence on Arjun and Salman's equation.
What Boney Kapoor said?
Despite their current strained relationship, it's undeniable that Salman Khan played a significant role in shaping Arjun Kapoor's growth as an actor. Salman's influence extended to Arjun's approach to acting and films, particularly emphasising the importance of physical fitness. "I may have separated from Mona (Kapoor, his first wife) but it was never in my mind that Arjun wants to become an actor. It was Salman who called me up and said that, ‘Boney sir, he will become an actor. He has it in him.’ He took it upon himself to see that he becomes an actor," Boney told News18.
The producer added, "He (Salman) made him lose weight. I would give credit to Salman where Arjun is concerned. Whatever said and done, today their equation might not be that good but he gave him his best (with regard to) Arjun. His growth was influenced by Salman."
When asked if the fallout between Arjun and Salman affected his own relationship with the latter, Boney clarified, "(Their fall out) has not altered my equation with Salman. I still love him, I still feel that there are very few like him, big hearted, warm hearted, whenever we meet, we meet with love. There is a lot of respect that he gives me and I love him."
Boney Kapoor's forthcoming project is 'Maidaan,' which stars Ajay Devgn in a prominent role. Inspired by the true story of Syed Abdul Rahim, the film will depict the period from 1952 to 1962. Initially slated for release in 2023, 'Maidaan' faced several delays. It will hit the theatres on Eid in April 2024 and will clash with Akshay Kumar's 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan'.
