BTS and BLACKPINK are considered the biggest boy and girl Kpop groups in recent times. In a recent survey conducted by Gallup Korea, BTS and BLACKPINK emerged as the most-loved boy and girl groups of the 21st century, showcasing their influence in the global music scene. With overwhelming support, these groups have solidified their dominance and continued to set new benchmarks in Kpop.
BTS, the seven-member boy group, was crowned the most-loved boy group of the 21st century, earning an impressive 74% of the votes in Gallup Korea's survey. Conducted between August 19 and 23, 2024, the poll included 1,052 participants aged 19 to 69, who were asked to select their top two favourite boy groups from a list of 20.
The group’s popularity spans all age groups, with strong support from younger and older voters alike. The survey revealed that BTS was most favoured by individuals in their forties (76%) and fifties (83%), while those in their twenties also showed significant support at 67%. The survey demonstrated that BTS' influence is truly cross-generational.
Formed in 2010 under BigHit Entertainment, BTS consists of Jin, SUGA, Jhope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook. Known for their diverse discography, BTS explores various genres, with lyrics tackling themes such as mental health, self-love and the struggles of youth. Over the years, BTS has broken numerous records on global music charts, including in the USA, UK, Japan and more.

Following BTS, BIGBANG secured second place with 33% of the votes, while Super Junior ranked third with 15%. Other notable groups in the survey included TVXQ (14%), EXO (13%), SEVENTEEN (8%) and SHINee (7%).
In the same Gallup Korea survey, BLACKPINK tied with Girls’ Generation (SNSD) for the title of the most-loved girl group of the 21st century. Both groups garnered 42% of the votes, reaffirming their status as Kpop powerhouses.

BLACKPINK, known for their global success and chart-topping hits, earned their highest support from voters in their forties (47%) and fifties (48%). The group's immense popularity continues to grow, with its influence stretching far beyond South Korea, cementing its place in the international music scene.

Girls' Generation, on the other hand, received strong backing from participants in their thirties (47%) and sixties (46%), showcasing the group’s long-lasting impact since their debut.

Rising star NewJeans ranked third in the survey, receiving 25% of the votes, particularly popular among voters aged 19 to 59. Other girl groups included in the survey results were Wonder Girls (21%), TWICE (13%) and 2NE1 (10%).

BTS and BLACKPINK's dominance as the top boy and girl groups of the 21st century is undeniable.
