BTS Jin in episode two of the recently released docu-series 'BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star' on Disney+ Hotstar revealed how ARMYs came in support of the group at their Billboard Music Awards Debut. In May 2017, the world witnessed a groundbreaking moment in the history of Kpop as BTS, the seven-member South Korean sensation, attended the 24th Billboard Music Awards. Not only did they make history by becoming the first Kpop group to win a Billboard award, but they also shattered a six-year winning streak held by Justin Bieber, showcasing the immense power of their dedicated fanbase, ARMYs.
BTS' victory in the Top Social Artist category, with over 300 million votes cast by their fans, became a global phenomenon. The international media couldn't ignore the remarkable achievement and began to focus on the extraordinary ability of BTS's fandom to propel the group to such heights.
In the recently unveiled docuseries, 'BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star', BTS opens up about their gritty journey before conquering the Western art scenes and global stages. The oldest member, Jin, shares insights into their Billboard Music Awards debut, recalling the initial scepticism they faced.
Upon receiving a surprise announcement from their producer, Bang Si Hyuk, about their first BBMA trip to Las Vegas, the members found themselves on a whirlwind journey. Despite winning 'Artist of The Year' in South Korea, the unfamiliar territory of the BBMAs presented unique challenges.

The second episode of the docuseries captures the candid moments of the group's red carpet-experience. With just 30 minutes to prepare, BTS stepped onto the red carpet, where confusion lingered among attendees unfamiliar with Kpop and the term 'Kpop idol.' Jin, reflecting on that moment, reveals how people looked at them, wondering who they were.

In the face of uncertainty, the power of ARMY's support became evident. The cheers from the dedicated fanbase helped BTS regain their composure, paving the way for a memorable performance and acceptance speech. Jin acknowledges the impact of ARMY, stating, “And I believe that was all due to ARMYs' cheers and support for us during those events and appearances.”
Suga, expressing his joy, recalls a dream he had two years prior about being together with their fans. RM, the group's leader, shared his doubts at the time, questioning whether the support they received was genuine. It was a moment of starting afresh, with uncertainties about the authenticity of their newfound fame.
As 'BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star' unfolds, it provides a rare glimpse into the challenges faced by BTS before reaching global stardom. The docuseries, with its initial episodes released on December 20, promises more revelations in subsequent releases on December 27, 2023 (episodes 3 & 4), January 3, 2024 (episodes 5 & 6), and January 10, 2024 (episodes 7 & 8).
