Popular K-pop group BTS member Suga has achieved the No. 2 spot on the main albums chart, Billboard 200, with his debut solo album "D-Day". This makes him the highest-charting soloist from K-pop along with his bandmate Jimin, who reached the same position with his album "Face" last month. In 2020, RM had also reached No. 3 with his debut solo album "Indigo".
Suga's "D-Day", as per Billboard's preview of this week's chart released on Monday, debuted at No. 2 with 140,000 equivalent album units, of which 122,000 were physical album sales. This makes him tied with his bandmate Jimin as the highest-charting K-pop soloist. Meanwhile, American singer Morgan Wallen's "One Thing at a Time" secured its eighth consecutive week at No. 1, reported Yonhap news agency.
The chart measures the popularity of albums in the US based on the number of equivalent album units sold, which includes physical album sales as well as other digital sales records.

"Like many K-pop releases, the CD edition of D-Day was issued in collectible CD packages each containing a standard set of items and randomized elements. It was also available as a standard digital download album, as well as three alternative cover digital download variants that were sold exclusively through the artist's official webstore. Of D-Day's first-week sales, 90 percent were CDs, while the remaining 10 per cent were digital album downloads," Billboard said.

Suga, who also goes by the name Agust D, released his album "D-Day" on April 21. This is his first official solo album in three years, following his release of "D-2" in 2020. Suga has previously released unofficial mixtapes.
The album comprises 10 tracks such as "Haegeum," "People Pt. 2 (Feat. IU)" which was released before the album, "D-Day," "Huh?! (Feat. J-Hope)," "Amygdala," "SDL," "Interlude: Dawn," and "Snooze (Feat. Ryuichi Sakamoto, Kim Woo-sung of The Rose)."
According to Billboard, the lead single "Haegeum" from Suga's album debuted at No. 58 on the Hot 100 chart this week.
The title of the song, "Haegeum," has a double meaning: it refers to a Korean string instrument and also to a noun that means lifting restrictions. The song's theme revolves around freedom, especially for those who experience limitations in their daily lives and in society. Additionally, the track features the use of the haegeum.
Suga has made it to the Hot 100 chart before. He previously charted at No. 76 with "Daechwita," No. 29 with "Girl Of My Dreams" from Juice WRLD's album "Fighting Demons," and No. 80 with "That That," a collaboration single with South Korean rapper-singer Psy.
