Sanam Saeed, best known for her role as Kashaf in the beloved television series Zindagi Gulzar Hai, recently shared her thoughts on why a sequel to the show is unlikely. In a conversation with News18 Showsha, the actress explained her and co-star Fawad Khan's reservations about revisiting their iconic characters, Zaroon and Kashaf.

Sanam revealed that, despite the enduring popularity of Zindagi Gulzar Hai across the globe, she believes a sequel would not capture the same magic as the original. "A sequel wouldn't offer the same charm because now they're married," she explained. "Once Zaroon and Kashaf are married, it will be boring. They have children by now, and I doubt they have the same nok-jhok waala romance."

The actress emphasized the importance of preserving the essence of the original show rather than dragging it out with a sequel. "I’m not particularly a fan of sequels or remakes of something that’s already been done. I like to savour and hold on to those precious moments and shows and move on to the next one," Sanam stated.

Sanam and Fawad are set to reunite on-screen with the upcoming Zee5 and Zee Zindagi series Barzakh, which will be released on July 19. Reflecting on their collaboration, Sanam shared that they did not dwell on their past work during the shooting. "That was ten years ago. I don’t think we like dwelling on the past. We shook hands and were happy to work together again," she said.

After Barzakh, the duo will also be seen in Netflix’s first Pakistani original, Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo and a SonyLIV original titled Shandur. Sanam mentioned that while one of these projects may have a dynamic similar to Zindagi Gulzar Hai, the approach and feel are different. "If anything, we discussed how to not go back there," she noted.

Sanam expressed her desire to take on roles that differ significantly from Kashaf, admitting that it took her over three years to shed the character’s image. "It was hard for me to pick up any other role because Kashaf was so strong. Zaroon’s role was equally strong. So, I knew that if Fawad and I work together again, we’ll have to somehow break our image of Zaroon and Kashaf," she explained.

Sanam's commitment to exploring new roles and narratives reflects her growth as an actress. "We’re different people today. We’ve evolved as human beings and actors," she concluded.
