Chiyaan Vikram Reveals Why He Agreed To Do Thangalaan; Shares His Reaction After Director Ranjith Offered Him Movie

Chiyaan Vikram is currently basking in the success of his Tamil movie action drama 'Thangalaan' and has been receiving a lot of love for his performance. The actor is now gearing up for the release of 'Thangalaan' in Hindi and has been busy with the promotion. In a recent interview, Chiyaan Vikram revealed why he agreed to do 'Thangalaan' and what his reaction was after filmmaker Pa Ranjith offered him the film.

While speaking to News18 about saying yes to 'Thangalaan', Chiyaan Vikram said, "Because nobody else would do it, and it begged to be made. The fact that a mainstream hero can look like this and do this excited me. That, in large part, is the USP of the film. Then, to have it made by someone as aesthetic as Ranjith, with his deep thoughts and revolutionary ideas, was very thought-provoking, and I felt I had to do it."

He added, "As an actor, I felt there were so many things I could explore with this character, so many ways I could discover him. It was never just a film for me; it was a journey to figure out the Thangalaan part of me."

Talking about his reaction after getting offered 'Thangalaan', he further said, " got very excited. I would have been very disappointed if he had offered me a regular commercial film. I would have said, ‘Ranjith, come on, give me a break!’ But he just presented this idea, and I immediately said yes. It wasn’t like we thought of anything else. He didn’t say, ‘Let’s do something different or difficult.’ He just presented this, and I said, ‘Let’s do it,’”

The movie also stars Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Vettai Muthukumar, Arjun Anbudan and Sampath Ram. 'Thangalaan' focuses on the actual history of the Kolar Gold Fields (KFG) and revolves around mine workers in that area.
