Indraneil Sengupta (Yami'Gautam's friend)
Review:
The movie starts with an air hostess, named Neha Grover, falling in love with businessman Ankit, despite getting multiple red flags. The plot takes a turn when the duo decides to steal diamonds 40,000 feet in the air. After two consecutive shockers, they attempt to pull off a heist, but it is foiled when the plane is hijacked, keeping the audience captivated. The writers ought to have been more imaginative with the script rather than plotting a hijacking scheme.
But, the entire hijack scenario was brilliantly executed, if I may say so. From the hijackers beating one of the passengers (even though it was planned), to them tying the plane marshal (not the real one), and to them repeatedly thrashing Ankit (who was attempting to go to business class to steal the diamonds), everything was flawless. Although I waited for at least one confrontation with the hijackers—what good is a hijack if no one is killed?—they ended up being killed. Everything was perfect up until the hijackers' fictitious encounter.
CAST (PERFORMANCE):
If given additional screen time, Sharad Kelkar, one of the most versatile actors in the business, might have done wonders for his character. He could only sit and listen to the high command's orders to end the case, making his role as a RAW agent completely pointless. In order to solve the mystery, I was expecting him to question the suspects, though he did some, but until that point the movie stopped, which was totally unexpected.
Yami Gautam, who portrayed Neha Grover, an air hostess, was initially seen as somewhat naive. Even though she was only being used by Sunny Kaushal's character to steal the diamonds, she fell in love with him despite all the red flags. She might not have been able to explore the character she was given in the movie because of the script. She wasn't really appealing this time.
Sunny Kaushal's character was quite sleazy, and he wasn't cut out to play a villain. His poor performance left me feeling very let down. From the first until the very end, he appeared perplexed. The creators made it so simple for him to enter the business class, showing how desperate he was to steal the gems. IS IT REALLY SO SIMPLE TO DUPE HIJACKERS?
FINAL VERDICT:
If hijack dramas were that simple to pull off, the logically constructed 2010 movie Kandahar, the 2008 film Hijack, and the 2003 film Zameen wouldn't have fallen flat at the Box Office. If the plot hadn't gotten off course, Ajay Singh's directorial debut would have been fantastic, but stealing 120 crores worth of diamonds by hijacking a plane doesn't make any logic.
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga is devoid of reason, logic, and all other necessary elements for a movie. Although having a respectable star cast, the film is let down by its nonsensical passages. It's amusing that a hijack is being plotted to rob 120 crore rupees worth of diamonds. The plane was hijacked at a height of 40.000 feet, however I didn't see any VFX to support this. The movie lasts an hour and fifty minutes, which, in my opinion, is not long enough to tell a tale because the ending leaves many loose ends.
