Sony TV’s much-loved crime investigation series CID is set to make a grand return next month after a six-year hiatus. The show, which originally premiered in 1998 and captivated audiences for two decades before concluding in 2018, will air its revamped version starting December 21, 2024. Fans can tune in every Saturday and Sunday at 10 p.m.
The upcoming season stars Shivaji Satam, Aditya Srivastava and Dayanand Shetty, reprising their iconic roles as ACP Pradyuman, Abhijeet and Daya, respectively. The makers have been teasing fans with intriguing promos and the latest one has everyone buzzing with excitement.
The newest promo showcases Daya, played by Dayanand Shetty, making his signature style return. Injured yet indomitable, he smashes through a door and delivers a powerful line: "Dushman bhi mujhe mita nahi paaye, main wapas aagaya, apne liye ladne aur jo bhool gaya hai, usse yaad dilane ki liye – 'Daya is back!'" The promo’s caption reads, “Apraadhi chahe kitne bhi darwaze band kar lein, Daya se nahi bachenge!”

Earlier, a teaser hinted at tension between Daya and Abhijeet, with Aditya Srivastava’s character seemingly shooting at Daya. Fans have been speculating about the drama and conflicts that will unfold in the new season. The news of the show’s return has thrilled fans. Dayanand Shetty, reflecting on his character’s enduring popularity, expressed gratitude for the audience’s love. He remarked, “Daya is a character etched in the hearts of people. The memes, jokes, and references are proof of the lasting impact he has had on popular culture.” The production team officially began filming on November 22, 2024, with a ceremonial mahurat puja. The crew and cast, including Shivaji Satam and Aditya Srivastava, were present to mark the occasion.
