The finale 'Citadel' has finally been released on Prime Video and the last episode left the audience on a big cliffhanger after revealing some plot twists. 'Citadel' stars Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden as agents Nadia and Mason respectively along with Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville in the pivotal roles.

Plot:

It has been revealed that Mason's real name is Kyle and Dahlia is his biological mother. In the season finale, Nadia, Kyle and Carter risk their lives to save Nadia's daughter Asha and others who have been held hostage by Manticore as they want to acquire nuclear weapons.

Review:

Despite being made on a high budget, and featuring an excellent star cast, with a weak storyline, the show proves to be a colossal waste of time. After the disappointing fifth episode, the finale redeems itself a little bit with an engaging performance by the star cast and some plot twists.

The action sequences are well-choreographed and look spectacular as the star cast performed them with such ease. Talking about the performances, Priyanka Chopra has aced her role even in the mediocre writing of her character and impresses her with a powerful on-screen presence. Meanwhile, Richard Madden plays the role of Mason/Kyle with sincerity and even though you find it hard to sympathise with his character, Richard impresses you with flawless charm. Lesley Manville as Dahlia Archer puts forth a convincing performance and makes a perfect antagonist.

There are different timelines in the episode which makes the plot details confusing and hard to watch. The new revelation and twists are a little engaging but there is no surprising element in it and the plot holes are hard to ignore. A lot is happing in the season finale but not enough chance is given to explore the different details or side plots.

Final Thoughts:

'Citadel' Finale (Episode 6) is a decent watch but not engaging enough to blow your mind. It is not something the audience has not seen before or something that has not been explored in other shows revolving around spies. There are many questions left on a cliffhanger which will be hopefully answered in the next season.
