One of the most highly anticipated series of this year, Russo Brothers’ Citadel released on Amazon Prime Video today. The series has been set on a mammoth budget and will also have an Indian adaptation with Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead roles.
Starring Priyanka Chopra in a never-seen-before avatar, Citadel also stars Richard Madden, Stanley Tucci, Lesley Manville, Osy Ikhile, Ashleigh Cummings, Roland Møller, Caoilinn Springall.

Not entirely why so many so called “critics” seem to be panning Citadel on Prime Video, especially as most of their criticisms are revolving around the show apparently looking cheap which couldn’t be further from the truth.

In an interview during the promotions of Citadel, Priyanka Chopra revealed that she didn’t interview for the series. “I didn’t audition for Citadel. But I had to audition for my first project in Hollywood. And auditioning isn’t a bad thing. It’s normal. In fact, we should do a lot more of it... People are cast because of merit and not because they are the flavour of the season or someone likes them or has recommended their name,” the actor said in an interview with News18.
“So, an actor like me who enjoyed being a leading lady in Bollywood and knows her job will not be side-lined when I’m auditioned. I’ll be good because I’m a good actor. I’ll win the job like I did with Quantico because I’m good at my job. And I’m not under-confident,” Priyanka Chopra added in her interview.
Priyanka Chopra had earlier revealed that she performed the majority of the stunts in the series on her own. The actor also added that the show is very different from what she has done before.
The official synopsis of Citadel reads: “The global spy agency Citadel has fallen and the memory of its agents has been erased. Now, the powerful Manticore crime syndicate is filling the power vacuum. Citadel agents must remember their past and find the strength to fight back.”
