Popular filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma shared his views on the Darshan fan murder case. Kannada stars Darshan Thoogudeepa and Pavithra Gowda have been arrested recently on the charges of alleged killing of an employee of a pharmacy named Renuka Swamy. He used to allegedly send abusive messages to the actress after she had shared on Instagram about her relationship with Darshan. Ram Gopal Varma called this incident “bizarreness of the star worship syndrome.”

In another tweet, he said, “A star using one die hard fan to kill another die hard fan who was interfering in his personal life is a fit example of the bizarreness of the star worship syndrome ..Fans wanting to order how their stars should run their lives is a unavoidable side effect of the same syndrome.”

Netizens Reactions
After Ram Gopal Varma's tweet, social media users shared their views on this case. A user said, “India is the only place on earth where politicians, cine actors, cricketers, babas, line managers, spouses all are worshipped blindly.” A netizen wrote, “Now the people who pay u in AP are out of ruling so you shifted your focus to Karnataka,I have not seen a person who has deepest intrest in the life's of superstars are you jealous of them or you guide them to your way of lifestyle, It's not entertaining anymore, you are outdated.”
A comment read, “Sometimes a fan is also a well wisher. To call someone's well wish a order is not appropriate. The point is he choosed a wrong person his hero.”
Renuka Swamy’s body was found at Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru on 8th June 2024. As per reports, eight accused have claimed that Darshan was present during the victim’s assault. Darshan was arrested by the Bengaluru police on 11th June. He was later brought to Bengaluru and sent to 6-days of police custody.
