At the moment, when Dhurandhar is dominating the box office, the actress spoke openly about the growing trend of jingoism (extreme patriotism) in cinema. Her comments have caught attention online, with many people discussing whether films should focus on great national pride or present more balanced storytelling.

In a recent interview on The Namrata Zakaria show, Dia Mirza shared her thoughts on how films today often highlight extreme patriotism. She pointed out that audiences seem to enjoy such content more than ever.
When asked about comparisons of Dhurandhar and her film IC 814: Kandahar Hijack, Dia stated, “The show was called out for humanising all the characters, including the terrorists. I guess it is because we are celebrating jingoism (excessive patriotism) too much now. We adore it. There is a trend to enjoy and celebrate jingoism, which our show is not.”

Actress’ Stand On Balanced Storytelling
Defending her project, Dia said she does not regret the approach taken in the series. She believes storytelling should not be one-sided but should reflect reality with honesty and depth.
The actress said, "I don't regret it. It has such a balanced view and gives people the opportunity to see each side the way it was.”

The actress also stressed that artists should express their views through their work. Inspired by Shabana Azmi, Dia said she believes art must have a purpose and added that if creative work does not contribute to society or spark thought, it loses its true value.
