A viral post recently took over social media, claiming that BTS Jhope (Hobi) messaged Filipino dancer Niana Guerrero on TikTok. The excitement among fans was short-lived, though, as many pointed out that the screenshot was likely from a fake account. While the original post was quickly deleted, the debate continues with no official statement from either J-Hope or Guerrero.
The buzz began when Niana Guerrero’s manager shared a screenshot showing an account believed to be J-Hope messaging Guerrero on TikTok. The message humorously read, “Please teach me TikTok hahahaha.” Fans were thrilled at the idea of the Kpop star reaching out to the popular dancer. However, doubts soon arose regarding the authenticity of the screenshot.

‼️This is NOT from Hobi‼️
Dancer Niana Guerrero’s manager shared this picture on Instagram but this is ⚠️NOT⚠️ Hobi’s real account! The picture has now been deleted.
Hobi’s account is VERIFIED and a BLUE CHECK should appear always next to his @ or username.… pic.twitter.com/7ayitE4bSG
BTS Jhope has a verified TikTok account, meaning his username should always display a blue checkmark. However, TikTok allows users to change their usernames freely, making it easy for impersonators to copy a celebrity’s name and profile picture. Several fans pointed out that numerous accounts with usernames like ‘hobipower’ exist, mimicking Jhope’s official profile. Once fans started questioning the legitimacy of the message, Guerrero’s manager swiftly deleted the post, further fueling speculation that it was not from the real Jhope.
Fans remain divided over the situation. Many were sceptical from the beginning, noting that J-Hope has a professional team and close friends who could teach him how to use TikTok. They questioned why he would directly message Guerrero for help. Others were disappointed that the manager did not verify the message before sharing it publicly.
However, some fans still believe the message might be real. They argue that both Jhope and Niana Guerrero follow each other on TikTok, meaning any message from J-Hope would appear in Guerrero’s notifications. Since TikTok notifications display only the sender’s name and not their verification badge, it’s possible she received a genuine message. Additionally, fake accounts typically get filtered into message requests, making it unlikely for Guerrero to see an impersonator’s message in her main inbox.
Neither Jhope nor Niana Guerrero has spoken about the situation yet. Whether it was an innocent mistake, a case of impersonation, or a real conversation taken out of context, fans continue to discuss it online.
