Emergency Box Office Collection Day 1: Kangana Ranaut's highly anticipated political drama movie Emergency, finally hit theaters on Friday, January 17, marking a significant moment for the actress and the film's team. Despite generating considerable buzz with its trailer, which had sparked intense curiosity among audiences and critics alike, the movie's opening day performance at the box office was somewhat subdued. However, Emergency managed to surpass industry predictions for its opening day collection, offering a glimmer of hope for a stronger performance in the days to come.

According to preliminary estimates provided by Sacnilk, Emergency has gotten off to a decent start at the domestic box office. On its opening day, the movie managed to garner a net collection of approximately Rs 2.35 crore in India.

About the film

Emergency, a 2025 Indian Hindi-language historical biographical drama film, marks a significant milestone in Kangana Ranaut's career as she not only stars in the film but also directs and co-produces it. The movie is based on a screenplay by Ritesh Shah and a story written by Ranaut herself, delving into the intricacies of the Indian Emergency. Ranaut takes on the iconic role of former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, bringing to life a pivotal moment in Indian history.

The film's journey began with principal photography commencing in July 2022 and wrapping up in January 2023. Initially scheduled for release on 6 September 2024, the film faced a postponement due to pending certification from the Central Board of Film Certification. However, after resolving the certification issues, the film was finally cleared by the CBFC and hit the theaters on 17 January 2025.

Emergency boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Mahima Chaudhry as Pupul Jayakar, Indira Gandhi's close confidante.
