The Harry Potter film franchise is still cherished around the world 20 years after The Deadly Hallows's release in 2001. Rumours of the ninth movie in the franchise based on "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" started doing rounds last year. However, the latest update regarding the upcoming movie might send fans into a state of shock. If the reports are to be believed, actor Emma Watson, known for her role as Hermoine Granger, is skeptical about making a return.
According to the insider Jeff Sneider, the makers have been facing to get back some of the main actors back for the revival, especially Emma Watson. In addition, some members of the original cast are reluctant to collaborate with J.K. Rowling, the author of the franchise, as a result of her transphobic remarks that sparked a significant uproar.
Sneider revealed, "Emma Watson is the toughest one to get back into this, particularly with everything that J.K. Rowling has said and stands for."
Also, according to reports, Warner Bros. attempted to "buy J.K. Rowling out" of the property, but she reportedly demanded a "insane price." Although Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson don't seem as eager to collaborate with Rowling as their co-star Rupert Grint, who had previously shown a willingness to return, does. A ninth edition of the Harry Potter adaptation may never take place if key members of the original cast seem unlikely to return.

In the past, Watson and Rowling's different perspectives on transgender issues caused a rift in the public. When asked in a 2019 Vogue interview if she would feel at ease using the loo with a trans woman, the Hermione Granger actress responded, "Of course." She said, "Oh my god, of course. That’s another human being. I understand fearing what you don’t know. But go and learn."
This came in response to JK Rowling's views, stating, "When you throw open the doors of bathrooms and changing rooms to any man who believes or feels he’s a woman – and, as I’ve said, gender confirmation certificates may now be granted without any need for surgery or hormones – then you open the door to any and all men who wish to come inside."
