The highly anticipated sequel, Indian 2, hit the theatres worldwide on July 12, 2024, in both standard and IMAX formats, but unfortunately, it fell flat with critics and the audience alike. Despite Kamal Haasan's standout performance, the film was largely panned for its antiquated script, excessive runtime, and underwhelming musical score by Anirudh. As a result, Indian 2 was deemed a commercial failure. The film is now all set for its OTT release.

Indian 2 OTT Release

If the reports are to be believed, Indian 2 will be available on OTT earlier than expected. The movie is expected to release on Netflix in the first week of August.

Indian 2 (2024) is a Tamil-language vigilante action film directed by S. Shankar, starring Kamal Haasan as Senapathy, a freedom fighter turned vigilante fighting corruption. The film is a sequel to Indian (1996) and features an ensemble cast, including Siddharth, S.J. Suryah, and Rakul Preet Singh. After two decades abroad, Senapathy returns to India to aid a group in tackling corruption.

The highly anticipated project was first announced in September 2017, with Sri Venkateswara Creations initially on board as the production company. However, they unexpectedly opted out just a month later, paving the way for Lyca Productions to take the reins. The principal photography for the film commenced in January 2019, but the journey was far from smooth. Over the next five years, the shooting schedule was sporadic, with several unforeseen delays and setbacks.

Tragedy struck in 2020 when an on-set accident claimed the lives of some crew members, and the COVID-19 pandemic brought filming to a grinding halt for two years. It wasn't until Red Giant Movies joined forces with Lyca as co-producers that the project gained momentum once again. Despite the numerous challenges, the technical crew remained steadfast, comprising some of the industry's most talented professionals, including musician Anirudh Ravichander, cinematographers Ravi Varman and R. Rathnavelu, editor A. Sreekar Prasad, production designer T. Muthuraj, and visual effects supervisor V. Srinivas Mohan. Finally, after a long and arduous journey, the film wrapped up production in March 2024, and hit the theatres on July 12, 2024.
