Superstar Rajinikanth created a storm in theatres with his movie 'Jailer', which became a huge hit. The movie received a lot of love and appreciation from the audience and it was earlier reported that 'Jailer' will return with its sequel. Actress Mirnaa Menon, who was seen in 'Jailer', seemed to have confirmed its sequel. During the promotions of 'Birthmark', Mirnaa was asked about 'Jailer 2' and revealed that filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar is excited to start working on the movie.

While speaking to the media, Mirnaa said, "I spoke to him (Nelson) when the announcement happened. He revealed that he’s happy and excited about kickstarting the project. However, I did not inquire about my character in the film. I think it's a director’s creative freedom whether to cast me or not."

She added, "I think whether or not my character needs to be extended or not is purely his discussion as a filmmaker. But if I get the opportunity to be part of the film again, I will gladly accept it.”

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the music of 'Jailer' is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. As per reports, Mammootty was approached to play Rajinikanth's role in 'Jailer'. "The director had approached Mammootty to play a role in the film; however, as the actor had other movie commitments, he couldn't agree to be part of 'Jailer'. Nelson Dilipkumar wanted Mammootty to play the role that Malayalam actor Vinayakan is playing in the film," a source was quoted as saying by ETimes.

Apart from Rajinikanth, the movie also stars Mohan Lal, Jackie Shroff, Shiva Rajkumar, Sunil, Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan, Mirna Menon and Tamannah Bhatia in pivotal roles. Vasanth Ravi, Naga Babu, Yogi Babu, Jaffer Sadiq, Kishore, Billy Muralee, Sugunthan, Karate Karthi, Mithun, Arshad, Marimuthu, Rithvik, Saravanan, Aranthaangi Nisha and Mahanadi Shankar were also be seen in the film.
