Malayalam actor Vinayakan was arrested on May 8 (Thursday) for allegedly creating a nuisance under the influence of alcohol at a hotel in Kollam, Kerala. The Jailer actor was later released on stationed bail. According to several media reports, Vinayakan was staying at the hotel since May 2 as he was shooting for a movie at a nearby location. As per a police official’s statement, when the actor was checking out of the hotel, the actor created a ruckus being intoxicated.
The police were called, after which he was taken for a medical check-up and then taken to the Anchalummoodu police station. A case was registered against the actor under Section 118 (a) (found in a public place, in an intoxicated manner) of the Kerala Police Act was registered against him
According to a PTI report, an officer said, “He was very drunk and was shouting at everyone, even the police.” One of the associates of Vinayakan came to his rescue. He was then released on bail after his associate assured safety on his behalf.
Vinayakan, who made his debut in 1995 Mohanlal starrer Maanthrikam. Since then, the actor has been predominantly part of Malayalam movies. He was also part of some Tamil movies. He has worked in films like Kammatipaadam, Thekku Vadakku, Aadu, Kasargold, Oruthee, Thottappan, Trance and Operation Java, to name a few. He was also seen in Rajinikanth’s Tamil starrer Jailer, where he played an important part. The actor portrayed the role of an eccentric idol smuggler named Varman. Jailer had a box office collection of over Rs 600 crore, as per reports. The Tamil action comedy movie is currently streaming on the popular OTT giant Prime Video.
Vinayakan will be next seen in the much anticipated Telugu movie Vishwambara. The film also stars Trisha Krishnan, Kunal Kapoor, Meenaakshi Chaudhary, Rana Daggubati, Chiranjeevi, Ashika Ranganath, Rajasekhar Aningi, Ramya Pasupuleti, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Keshav Deepak, Ashrita Vemuganti, Surbhi and Isha Chawla in key roles. It has been directed by Mallidi Vasishta.
