Homebound Oscars 2026: Janhvi Kapoor, Inshaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa starrer Homebound has been shortlisted for the 98th Academy Awards in the Best Internbational Feature Film category. Helmed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the film on its theatrical release received lukewarm response from the audience and performed moderately at the box office. After the announcement filmmaker Karan Johar, who backed the film, penned a heartfelt note on social media giving a shoutout to the entire time.
Karan Johar took to Instagram to share a post which read, “ "I am not sure I can articulate how proud, elated and over the moon I am with the journey of #HOMEBOUND... all of us @dharmamovies are privileged to have this proud and important film in our filmography." Thanking the film's director Neeraj Ghaywan, Karan added, "Thank you @neeraj.ghaywan for making so many dreams of ours come true... from Cannes to being on the Oscar shortlist this has been such an overwhelming journey! Love to the entire cast and crew and teams of this special special film!!!!!!!!! Upwards and onwards........ #HOMEBOUND streaming now on @netflix_in." Homebound also made its digital debut on Netflix on November 21.

Homebound Global Recognitions
On the other hand, the critically acclaimed film, Homebound, is heading to the 2026 Oscars following a successful run on the international festival circuit. It first premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes 2025, where it earned a standing ovation. This was followed by a screening at TIFF, where it was honored with the Second Runner-Up position for the International Audience Choice Award.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently unveiled shortlists across 12 categories, with the film Homebound securing a spot on the diverse list of global contenders for the Best International Feature Film award. This category also features a range of other international submissions: Belen (Argentina), The Secret Agent (Brazil), It Was Just an Accident (France), Sound of Falling (Germany), The President's Cake (Iraq), Kokuho (Japan), All That's Left of You (Jordan), Sentimental Value (Norway), Palestine 36 (Palestine), No Other Choice (South Korea), Sirat (Spain), Late Shift (Switzerland), Left-Handed Girl (Taiwan), and The Voice of Hind Rajab (Tunisia).
Meanwhile, the official list of Oscar nominees will be revealed on January 22, 2026. The 98th Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled for March 15, 2026.
