South Korean actor Ji Chang-wook's recent controversy involving smoking indoors during the filming of 'Welcome to Samdal-ri' has prompted his agency to issue a formal apology. The incident, which occurred during the release of behind-the-scenes footage on January 26, stirred discomfort among viewers and sparked a public outcry due to smoking being illegal in public places in South Korea.

Chang-wook's agency, Spring Company, expressed regret over the incident, acknowledging that the actor recognized his behaviour as improper and felt remorseful for disappointing his fans. In a statement released on Sunday, the agency addressed the discomfort caused by the scene and extended apologies to those affected, including the drama's staff, cast, and viewers.

The agency assured the public of its commitment to preventing similar incidents in the future, emphasizing the importance of adhering to legal and ethical standards. Additionally, it thanked the audience for their understanding and support amidst the controversy.

In response to the incident, the production team of 'Welcome to Samdal- promptly removed the scene featuring Chang-wook smoking from the video. The drama, set in Jeju Island, revolves around the story of childhood friends portrayed by Chang-Wook and Shin Hye-sun, with a supporting cast including Kim Mi-Kyung, Seo Hyun-Chul, and Shin Dong-mi, among others.
