The much-awaited update in the Jiah Khan suicide case will likely be out today. The decision on the death of the Bollywood actor has been due for years, where her ex-boyfriend and actor Sooraj Pancholi was arrested on charges of ‘abetment to suicide’.
On Friday morning, Sooraj Pancholi arrived at the special CBI court in Mumbai along with his mother, Zarina Wahab. According to a family member, the Pancholis are positive about the impending verdict and are feeling anxious about the same.
Social media users flooded Twitter and other platforms to react to the case. One user wrote, “#India is country where a person died 10 year ago #JiahKhan and suspect #SoorajPancholi - Leave for court as SPECIAL #CBI court is likely to pass judgement today. 10 years for India's top agency #CBI ? Judgement result likely - He is not culprit.” Another comment read, “This lost girl #JiahKhan will sure get justice today... #SoorajPancholi.....Sooraj wil be in jail for 10 years! Don’t worry guys justice wil be given by god if not by bikau judge !!”

Jiah Khan was found dead at her Juhu apartment on June 3, 2013. The actor was found hanging in her bedroom from a ceiling fan by the police. Jiah’s alleged boyfriend at the time, Sooraj Pancholi was arrested on the charges of ‘abetment of suicide’. The charges were made on the basis of a six-page letter, purportedly written by Jiah Khan.
Sooraj Pancholi was for abetment of suicide under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 306. The IPC section states that “If any person commits suicide, whoever abets the commission of such suicide, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.”
Sooraj Pancholi is currently out on bail. A verdict about his involvement in the matter is likely to be given today in Mumbai’s special CBI court.
