Various online sources are now reporting that this sci-fi action movie has reached a new pinnacle by becoming the most expensive Indian film ever produced to date. This development adds a significant new highlight to its list of achievements, marking a major moment in the history of Indian cinema.

Kalki 2898 AD Outshines Salaar, Baahubali In Terms Of Budget

The upcoming film, Kalki 2898 AD, featuring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, directed by Nag Ashwin, is reported to have an astounding production budget of Rs 600 crores. This makes it not only one of the most costly Indian films ever made but also sees it surpassing the production budgets of other major blockbusters starring Prabhas, including ‘Salaar: Part 1’ and both movies from the ‘Baahubali’ series. 

For the unversed, ‘Salaar: Part 1’ was produced with a budget of Rs 270 crores. Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli's ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ (Part 1) had a budget of Rs 180 crores, and its sequel, ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ (Part 2), was produced for Rs 250 crores.

‘Kalki 2898 – A.D’ is set to be released in 2024 and is an expansive Indian film that blends epic science fiction with a dystopian theme. Drawing inspiration from Hindu scriptures, the story unfolds in a post-apocalyptic setting in the year 2898 A.D. The film is directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Aswani Dutt through Vyjayanthi Movies, a prominent production house.
