Kapil Sharma fans have a reason to rejoice as the beloved comedian has officially confirmed the return of his popular series, The Great Indian Kapil Show, for a second season. The announcement came on Independence Day when Kapil shared an Instagram teaser featuring a bouquet and a glimpse of the show's cast, along with the thrilling message: “The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 2 is on the way.”
This revelation follows months of anticipation and speculation, especially after Netflix India hinted at possibly a second season in June. The streaming platform shared a video on social media, highlighting memorable moments from the first season and subtly teasing that the show would return “sooner than you think.” The video ended with a message that fueled excitement among fans: “It will shower entertainment again because The Great Indian Kapil Show’s season 2 will be back in just a few months! Binge season 1 while you wait for the new season!”

The first season of The Great Indian Kapil Show premiered on March 30 and quickly became a sensation, winning the hearts of audiences across the globe. The season, which wrapped up on June 22, featured 12 star-studded episodes with guests ranging from Bollywood celebrities to sports legends. Notable appearances included Ranbir Kapoor, who appeared with his mother Neetu Kapoor and sister Riddhima Kapoor, as well as the Deol brothers, Sunny and Bobby.
Sports icons like Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal and Sania Mirza also graced the show, along with musical talents like Badshah, DIVINE and Diljit Dosanjh. The season also saw celebrated filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and actress Parineeti Chopra, along with the entire cast of Heeramandi.
Reflecting on the success of the first season, Kapil expressed his gratitude to the fans, saying, “This has been a wonderful first season of The Great Indian Kapil Show. There have been many firsts, and we will cherish those moments. We are grateful for all the love pouring in from across the globe.”
He also assured fans that they wouldn’t have to wait long for more laughter and entertainment, promising, “Collaborating with Netflix for The Great Indian Kapil Show has been a fulfilling experience, and on that note, we promise not to keep our audience waiting for too long for the next season. Enjoy the finale episode with Kartik Aaryan this weekend and stay tuned as we gear up for season 2.” Season 2 is expected to continue the show's winning formula of humour and star power, with a stellar lineup of comedic talent including Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda and Rajiv Thakur.
