Atlee recently graced the couch of The Great Indian Kapil Show to promote his upcoming action movie Baby John starring Varun Dhawan in the lead role. His appearance on the show created controversy after netizens found Kapil Sharma’s question about the director’s appearance as 'racist'. 

After getting trolled for his remark on social media, Kapil Sharma finally broke silence on the accusations. One of the X users shared a viral clip from the Netflix show's latest episode and wrote, “Kapil Sharma subtly insults Atlee’s looks? Atlee responds like a boss: Don’t judge by appearance, judge by the heart. #Atlee #KapilSharma." Reacting to this post, Kapil commented, “Dear sir, can you pls explain me where n when I talked about looks in this video ? pls don’t spread hate on social media thank you. (guys watch n decide by yourself, don’t follow any body’s tweet like a sheep)."

In the video, Kapil can be seen asking the Jawan director, “Atlee sir, actually you are so young. Aur aap itne bade producer, director ban gaye hain. Kabhi aapke saath aisa hua hai ki aap kisi star se milne gaye first time aur usko laga hi naa ho aap Atlee ho. Usne kaha." Reacting to the comedian's remark calmly, Atlee responded, “In a way, I understood your question. I’ll try to answer. I’m actually very thankful to AR Murugadoss sir. Because he produced my first film. He asked a script, but he didn’t see how I’m looking, and whether I’m capable of it or not. But he loved my narration. I think the world should see that. By appearance we should not judge, by heart you have to judge."

After this, fans backlashed Kapil for his 'racist' remarks towards the filmmaker.

Meanwhile, talking about Atlee's upcoming production, Baby John is an adaptation of his own Tamil film Theri featuring Thalapathy Vijay. The upcoming action drama stars Varun Dhawan, Jackie Shroff, Keethy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabbi in pivotal roles. Actor Salman Khan is making a special appearance.
