Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor have been facing a lot of criticism over their performance in Netflix’s original movie Nadaaniyan. The film marked Saif Ali Khan's son's Bollywood debut, but it seems like viewers expected more from him. Renowned celebrities like Hansal Mehta and Vikram Bhatt have defended the backlash surrounding the acting skills of the fresh pair. Now, Karan Johar, who is a producer of the romantic drama, supported his lead cast in his signature style by quoting lines from the iconic song 'Kuch Toh Log Kahenge'.

Nadaaniyan producer Karan Johar was spotted at the trailer launch of his upcoming film Akaal starring Gippy Grewal. During media interaction, he reacted to the ongoing backlash surrounding his film and lead cast- Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor. To this, he responded by saying, “Main bas ye hi kahunga, ek purane film ka alfaaz hai ki kuch toh log kahenge logon ka kaam hai kehna… chhodo bekaar ki baatein, beet na jaaye raina. Bas ye hi kehna chahunga main."

Not only he, Gippy Grewal also reacted to the backlash faced by Ibrahim and Khushi for their performance in Nadaaniyan. Citing the example of his film Carry On Jatta, Punjabi actor revealed how people doubted him while he was working on the film but these things boosted him up instead of being upset. At the trailer launch of Akaal, Gippy said, “When we made Carry On Jatta, we heard many people say ‘these people are working as if the film will make 100 crores’. And we did it. So, I feel like there’s nothing to be upset about. These things boost you up. There are two sides to them. On one hand, you feel a little upset when you hear the criticism. On the other, you feel like, ‘No, I will prove myself.’"

Talking about Nadaaniyan, he added, "I thought, if we bring a Hindi film, it should be with a production house that I would be proud to sit with. And today, we are sitting with Dharma. So, that child (Ibrahim Ali Khan)…he starred in his first film, and maybe some liked it, and some didn’t. I feel that when Saif Sir’s first film was released, people must have said the same things to him. But today, no one can say anything about his performance, right? So, it’s a part of life."
