Kdramas Releasing In December 2024: As December 2024 approaches, the Kdrama scene is abuzz with excitement. Fans can look forward to an enthralling month of entertainment with a range of compelling stories and star-studded casts. Here’s a closer look at six highly anticipated dramas set to premiere this December.

Light Shop

Premiering on December 4, 2024, Light Shop is based on the novel Shop of the Lamp by Kang Full. The series tells the story of a group of strangers struggling to overcome traumatic events from their past. These individuals find themselves drawn to a mysterious light shop located in a shadowy alley, guarded by a cautious shopkeeper. The shop holds secrets that may uncover truths about their past, present, and future. The drama stars Ju Ji Hoon, Park Bo Young, Bae Sung Woo, Uhm Tae Goo, Kim Seol Hyun, Lee Jung Eun, Park Hyuk Kwon, Kim Min Ha, and Kim Seon Hwa. Directed by Kim Hee Won and written by Kang Full, this 8-episode series will stream on Disney+.

Sorry Not Sorry

Set to air on December 5, 2024, this romantic comedy-drama stars Jeon So Min and Choi Daniel. The story revolves around Ji Song I, a single woman dumped overnight, who moves to a new town to start afresh. Struggling with part-time jobs to pay off her home loan, she pretends to be married to fit in with local moms. Her life intertwines with her estranged best friend, Choi Ha Na, a meticulous working mom, and pottery teacher An Chan Yang, a social media addict hiding a different side to her personality. With 12 episodes, this drama is directed by Min Ji Young and will air on KBS.

Who Is She

Premiering on December 18, 2024, Who Is She offers a heartwarming mix of drama and comedy. Starring Kim Hae Sook, Jung Ji So, Jung Jin Young, and Chae Won Bin, the story follows O Mal Sun, a 70-year-old woman who mysteriously reverts to her 20s after a fight with her daughter. Adopting the name O Du Ri, she pursues her lifelong dream of becoming a singer and joins Unis Entertainment as an idol trainee. Along the way, she encounters Daniel Han, a producer and former idol leader. Meanwhile, her granddaughter Choi Ha Na also becomes a trainee, chasing her own dreams. Directed by Park Yong Soon and written by Heo Seung Min, this 12-episode series will air on KBS2.

Check-In Hanyang

Set in the Joseon era, this period drama, premiering on December 21, 2024, revolves around four interns at a prestigious guesthouse, each hiding their true identity. One is a woman disguised as a man, another is a prince in hiding, the third is the heir to the guesthouse with no interest in inheriting it, and the fourth is a man desperate for money. Together, they navigate secrets, intrigue, and deception. The cast includes Bae In Hyuk, Kim Ji Eun, Jung Gun Joo, and DKZ’s Jaechan, with direction by Myung Hyun Woo and writing by Park Hyun Jin. This 16-episode drama will air on Channel A.

Namib

Featuring Go Hyun Jung and Ryeoun, Namib is a life-centric drama that delves into the struggles of Kang Su Hyun, a renowned producer known for her talent in idol training. After being fired from Pandora Entertainment, she becomes the breadwinner for her family. Her husband, Sim Jun Seok, a former music producer, longs to return to work after their son’s hearing loss. Determined to rebuild her career, Kang Su Hyun chooses Yoo Jin Woo, a troubled trainee, as her next project. Directed by Jung Da Won and Han Sang Jae, this 12-episode series will air on ENA.

Squid Game 2

Closing out the year is the much-awaited Squid Game 2, set to premiere in December on Netflix. Directed and written by Hwang Dong Hyuk, the 7-episode thriller brings back Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun and Wi Ha Joon. The story follows Seong Gi Hun, aka Player 456, as he returns to the deadly game, determined to save lives and convince others to end the game for good. However, the allure of wealth poses a significant challenge to his resolve, promising viewers another intense and suspenseful journey.
