Liam Payne's death sent shockwaves after he passed away on October 16, 2024, at the age of 31, following a fall from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Like fans of the former One Direction singer, his girlfriend Kate Cassidy is trying hard to heal but revealed that it is still difficult for her to accept that he's no longer here. She admitted that she never imagined to talk about him in past tense.

Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy opened up about struggling to get out of bed since Payne’s death. She appeared on Lorraine Kelly’s ITV talk show to support the programme’s March4March mental health campaign. During the interview, she said, "I genuinely believe Liam, in a way, guided me to this campaign and wanted me to be involved in this, and to help other people. I’m going through this healing journey, sometimes it’s hard for me to get out of bed in the morning and something I don’t want to do. But I have this responsibility and this obligation that I am almost in a way."

Cassidy also revealed how her dog helps her get out of bed and refreshes her mind. She said, "I have no choice. I have to get out of bed (for my dog) Nala, and whether it’s a five-minute walk or 20-minute walk first thing in the morning. Either way, it just wakes me up and refreshes my mind instead of laying in bed all day just scrolling through social media or old photos. It gets me out of bed and really, really helps my mindset and my mental health."

Talking about Payne, Cassidy became emotional, fighting back tears. She added, "I find myself talking about him so much in the present tense. I don’t even feel the need to correct myself, because I still can’t fully accept that he’s not here anymore. That’s part of my healing journey. I’m still working on accepting the fact that he’s not here anymore. I never would’ve thought that I would be talking about him in the past tense. I’ve never lost anybody close to me, so this is my first time dealing with anything like this. I am trying to do my best."
