Hrithik Roshan’s Lakshya recently marked its 20 years of release. The story based on an Indian Army officer showcased the bravery of national heroes. The movie got a lot of appreciation from the audiences and was one of the blockbuster movies of 2004. Bollywood has made several movies based on the lives of the Indian Army which touched the hearts of millions of citizens. Here we bring you the top 5 movies that made a separate fanbase for this genre.
1) Border
The 1997 movie is still remembered when people recall the sacrifices of national heroes. The story revolves around 120 Indian soldiers based in the Longewala region defending their posts all night until they receive help from the Indian Air Force. It stars Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Pooja Bhatt, Sharbani Mukherjee, Tabu, and Puneet Issar in significant roles. The movie is streaming on Prime Video. The sequel of the movie will be released on January 2026.
2) Shershaah
The movie is based on the true story of Captain Vikram Batra, who was martyred in the 1999 Kargil war. The film also shows his love life and highlights his past life before becoming a soldier. It features Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, Shiv Panditt, Munira Kudrati, Shataf Figar, Nikitin Dheer, and Pranay Pachauri in prominent roles. The film is streaming on Prime Video.
3) Sam Bahadur
The biopic is based on the life of Sam Manekshaw, who served four decades and fought in five wars. The Meghna Gulzar directorial also highlighted the personal life of the legendary army officer. The movie has cast of talented actors like Vicky Kaushal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Sammy Jonas Heaney, Edward Sonnenblick, and Neeraj Kabi in key roles. It can be watched on OTT platform Zee5.

4) Uri: The Surgical Strike
The 2019 movie was one of the blockbuster movies of the year. Fans still remember the dialogues and songs of the film. It was based on the real incident of the 2016 Uri attack. The film stars Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina, Kirti Kulhari, Swaroop Sampat and Manasi Parekh in pivotal roles. The movie is streaming on Zee5.
