Vijay Sethupathi has won the hearts of the audience across the country over the years with his powerful performances in movies such as Maharaja, Vikram Vedha, 96 and Jawan, to name a few. After dominating the Tamil industry for 15 years as a lead, his son Surya is all set to rule the silver screens. Yes, his son Surya Vijay Sethupathi is all set to make his acting debut with Phoenix as a lead actor. The film is said to be an action sports drama movie. Surya will be essaying the role of a boxer who went behind bars. The teaser of the film features him doing a high-octane action sequence. The movie also stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Harish Uthaman, and Varsha in key roles. Phoenix was initially scheduled to release in theatres on November 14, 2024. However, it was postponed and no release date has been announced yet.
While sharing the teaser of Phoenix in June last year, Surya Vijay Sethupathi wrote on Instagram, “Happy to share #Pheonix teaser. Thanks vaathi @anlarasu007.”
During the trailer launch of the film, Vijay Sethupathi mentioned that the decision to launch his son Surya was unplanned. At the event, how the director Anal Arasu approached his son for the role and asked if he is suitable for it. On the other hand, Surya said that he was nervous in front of the camera and accepted that it’s part of an actor’s life.
Earlier, in an interview with Koimoi, Vijay Sethupathi shared that he named his son Surya after his childhood friend, who passed away. He wants to honour his friend by keeping his son’s name as his. Vijay also has a daughter named Shreeja Sethupathi. She is the youngest child of the actor.
