The 2023 Met Gala is one a week away with this year's theme of the event is dedicated to the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. The historic fashion soiree is set to return to the Metropolitan Museum Of Art in New York on May 1, 2023, where the theme of Met Gala 2023 is 'Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty.'

According to a report in Vogue Magazine, the annual fashion event will pay homage to the designer through the dress code: 'In Honor of Karl.' This time, along with the publication's editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, there will be four other co-chairs for the event including Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, Dua Lipa, and Penelope Cruz.

As the event is held every year at the museum, each celebrity guest must follow the guidelines and rules set by Anna Wintour, whereas the chief-in-editor of Vogue is very precarious and strict about the rules. From a no selfie rule to no onion breath, here are five unexpected rules one must follow at the Met Gala.

No Selfie Rule

As fashion events are all about photos, celebrities attending the Met Gala are not allowed to capture selfies inside the museum, where celebrities are not allowed to spend their time on their phone. The use of phones for photography and social media inside the museum is not allowed.

No under-18s allowed

Met Gala also has an age restriction, where high-profile individuals under the age of 18 are not allowed to be a part of the event. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Maddie Ziegler announced that as she is 16 years old, she is not allowed to enter the premises, because of the 2018's theme 'Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.'

No smoking policy

In 2017, many celebrities including Dakota Johnson, Marc Jacobs, and Bella Hadid were seen smoking cigarettes inside the bathroom. The same year, the board members thus expressed their dismay and started the no-smoking rule to preserve the art collection as it is disrespectful to it.

No onion breath

As the Met Gala is a cocktail soiree and also has a formal dinner, there are only a limited number of food items on the menu, where onions are strictly off the menu. Also, parsley and any other kind of herbs, garlic, or onions are banned which might get stuck in people's teeth.

Having strict seating arrangements

Anna Wintour is highly particular about the seating arrangements of the guest and it matters to her who sits next to who. Spouses are never seated next to each other, and the motive of the event is to meet new people.
