Returning actors include Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, Pankaj Tripathi as Akhandanand 'Kaleen' Tripathi, Rasika Dugal as Beena Tripathi, and Shweta Tripathi Sharma as Gajgamini 'Golu' Gupta.
The crime thriller web series streaming on Amazon Prime Video is created by Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmmeet Singh and Karan Anshuman. Now, ahead of Season 3 premiere, let's revisit the key highlights from the first two seasons.
Mirzapur
The first season of Mirzapur introduces the audience to the lawlessness and power struggles in the fictional town of Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. It follows two brothers, Guddu Pandit, played by Ali Fazal and Bablu Pandit aka Vikrant Massey, who are drawn into the world of crime under the influence of local mafia dons Kaleen Bhaiya, portrayed by Pankaj Tripathi and his son Munna Tripathi, Divyendu Sharma.
Kaleen Bhaiyya runs an illegal empire while posing as a carpet exporter. His son, Munna, eager for power but reckless, accidentally kills a groom at a wedding, leading to conflict with advocate Ramakant Pandit's family. Guddu and Bablu, Ramakant's sons, initially admire Munna but clash violently after threats. They join Kaleen to resolve the legal issue, earning his trust. Meanwhile, Munna's rivalry escalates with Guddu and Bablu, complicating Kaleen's ambitions and causing family turmoil.
The series explores themes of violence, revenge, and political intrigue as the Pandit brothers navigate the criminal underworld, encountering moral dilemmas and betrayals along the way.
Mirzapur 2
In the second season, the power dynamics in Mirzapur undergo significant shifts. Guddu and Golu (Shweta Tripathi) seek revenge for the deaths of their loved ones, leading to intensified conflicts with the Tripathi family. With new alliances and betrayals, the series explores deeper themes of loyalty, ambition, and the consequences of violence. In Mirzapur, after the tragic events at Sweety and Bablu's wedding, Guddu, Golu, and Dimpy escape to seek revenge. Munna assumes Guddu's demise and begins plotting to take over, unaware of Guddu's survival. As tensions escalate with Sharad and political alliances shift, Guddu and Golu plan their retaliation. Amidst power struggles and betrayals, Munna's marriage to Madhuri complicates Kaleen's political ambitions, leading to a final showdown where Guddu emerges victorious, avenging his loved ones and claiming control of Mirzapur.
The season ends on a dramatic note, setting the stage for further confrontations and power struggles in Mirzapur.
