The Malayalam film industry was left shocked on Tuesday as Mohanlal, the incumbent President of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), made the unexpected decision to step down from his position. In a show of solidarity, the entire 17-member executive committee, led by Mohanlal, collectively tendered their resignations, sending shockwaves throughout the industry. 

Did Mohanlal Meet Mammootty Before Quitting As AMMA President?

Entertainment circles are abuzz with the news that renowned Malayalam actor Mohanlal recently held a private meeting with his esteemed colleague, Mammootty, as reported by the esteemed Malayalam news publication, Manorama. According to the report, the confidential consultation centred on a significant decision taken by Mohanlal, to which Mammootty purportedly lent his support, deeming it the most prudent course of action. 

The report further suggested that despite efforts by certain individuals to persuade Mohanlal to reconsider his stance, the actor remained resolute in his decision, refusing to yield to external pressures. This development has sparked widespread interest and speculation among fans and industry insiders alike, highlighting the significance of the meeting and the solidarity between the two Malayalam cinema legends.

Mohanlal issued a statement to press and announced his resignation from the post of AMMA President. He wrote, “AMMA has decided to disperse the executive committee on moral grounds in the light of allegations made by some actors against some of the committee members. A new committee will be formed after an election within two months.”
