Mohanlal’s much-anticipated Malayalam movie L2: Empuraan is all set to release in theatres on March 27. The film is creating buzz on social media and several industry people have come forward to appreciate the trailer. One of them was legendary superstar Rajinikanth, who not only unveiled the Tamil version of the trailer but also lauded Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s work. He took to X, “Watched the trailer of my dear Mohan’s @Mohanlal and @PrithviOfficial Prithvi ‘s film #Empuraan .. fantastic work , congratulations !!! I wish the team all the best for the release. God bless.”

Mohanlal further shared that the trailer of the movie was also sent to Amitabh Bachchan alongside Rajinikanth. He revealed that he does not consider them as competition but admires them. The Malayalam actor further shared that they genuinely appreciated the trailer. In a recent interview with News18, Mohanlal said “It’s not competition but appreciation. I sent the trailer to Amitabh Bachchan saab. Rajini sir called me and I had a chat with him. He told me, ‘What have you done? Oh my god!’ They genuinely appreciated our trailer. It didn’t come from a place of them wanting to make another film that’s better than ours. What we’ve spent on the film is showing and that’s a very important thing. As a producer, Rajini sir could easily capture and understand this aspect.”

“He told me, ‘You all have spent so much on the film and I can see that.’ It’s not like he watched the trailer and just tweeted about it saying how great it is. His compliment was true and came straight from his heart. It came after he watched the trailer,” he added.

Coming back to L2: Empuraan, the movie also features Caroline Koziol, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Mohanlal, Jerome Flynn, Eriq Ebouaney, Tovino Thomas, Saniya Iyappan and Manju Warrier in key roles. The movie has been directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and produced by Antony Perumbavoor, Subaskaran Allirajah.
